Eedi’s Learning Design team is made up of experienced classroom teachers and tutors and is led by Co-Founder, Chief Academic Officer, best-selling author, and renowned maths teacher, Craig Barton.
The Learning Design team sits at the intersection of pedagogy, AI, and evidence. Their goal is to translate deep subject-matter expertise into the instructional scaffolding that powers Eedi's Diagnostic Engine, research, and end-user products.
Every distractor in Eedi’s diagnostic questions maps to a specific, documented misconception, is tagged to a curriculum, and is paired with explanations written for both students and teachers.
Answered across millions of students, these questions turn a single short quiz into a detailed picture of what each learner understands, exactly where and why they've gone wrong, and helps us predict where they will struggle in the future.
Eedi Tutor is not a chatbot. We design our tutoring system architecture to personalise interactions based on a student's attitudinal, cognitive, and relational context. This includes the "warm demander" approach, error type analysis, and session summaries that flag anxiety, confidence issues, and misconceptions.
We create and review Eedi’s Diagnostic Questions to ensure every distractor is purposeful, every misconception is accurately identified, and every question meets the classroom standard set by our team of experienced teachers and tutors.
Working closely with the Data Science team, we adapt Eedi's content and assessment frameworks to different curricula and country contexts across the globe, including Sub-Saharan Africa, Brazil, Honduras and India.
As experienced teachers, the Learning Design team undertakes expert Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to build in-country capacity to support Eedi's global rollout, particularly in the Global South.

Our Evidence team measures real-world impact. It designs and runs rapid tests and gold-standard Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs), independently validated, to demonstrate real, measurable improvements in learning outcomes for students.
